For Immediate Release: March 7, 2018
Looking for an affordable place to rent or own in Northern Virginia? Plan to visit the 2018 Northern Virginia Housing Expo, on March 24 at George Washington Middle School (1005 Mt. Vernon Ave.), next to the Braddock Road Metro Station in Alexandria. The free public event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will showcase both first-time homeownership and rental opportunities, and resources throughout Northern Virginia. The expo will feature workshops and exhibits designed to educate attendees about location options, being prepared for buying or renting, understanding and improving credit scores, senior housing options, condominium governance, improving energy efficiency, and more. Free confidential counseling will also be available. Refreshments will be available for purchase during the event.
A growing list of free workshops and exhibitors can be found at www.NoVaHousingExpo.org as the event approaches.
This event, now in its eighth year, is made possible through a cooperative effort between representatives from the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun, the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, the Virginia Housing Development Authority and a new nonprofit partner, First Home Alliance.
The event is free to the public thanks to a variety of sponsorships, including funding from platinum sponsors City of Alexandria Office of Housing, Northern Virginia Association of Realtors®, Prince William Office of Housing and Community Development and the Virginia Housing Development Authority, as well as gold sponsor Prosperity Mortgage. Past expos have been recognized with a prestigious award from the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND) for “best government initiative.”
