The City of Alexandria, Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is pleased to announce that Casa Chirilagua, a local nonprofit, entered into a five year lease agreement with the City to provide community based programs and management of the Conservatory Center at Four Mile Run Park, 4109 Mount Vernon Ave. Under the agreement, the building will continue to be available upon request for public use and rental, in addition to housing Casa Chirilagua’s programs, which will include:
After School Programs
Youth Development Programs
Mentoring
Parent and Family Engagement Activities
Summer Programs for Youth
Community Activities
Leadership Development Programs
Family Strengthening Programs
The lease will begin September 1, 2016, and at that time the building will be closed while a new HVAC system is installed and interior improvements are completed by Casa Chirilagua. The Conservatory Center is available for public use through the City for the months of May, June, July and August 2016. Information about rental/use of the building during those months is available at the Cora Kelly Recreation Center, 25 West Reed Avenue, or by calling 703-746-5554.
The Conservatory Center at Four Mile Run Park, previously a paint store, along with the adjacent plaza area, was retrofitted to provide indoor and outdoor community/public meeting space. The site also hosts the Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market. For additional information on the market, visit www.4mrmarket.org.
