SBorn in India, raised in Canada and currently living in New York City, Ahluwalia’s music reflects love in all its shades from the yearning romantic to the divine love of Sufi Mysticism. Saharan sounds also infuse her music, to include the appearance of the legendary Malian ensemble Tinariwen on her 2011 album aam zameen: common ground. Also performing is Kiran’s musical and marital partner Rez Abbasi, a NYC-based Pakistani-American guitarist named No. 1 Rising Star Guitarist on Downbeat magazine’s International Critic’s Poll who also performs with jazz pianist Vijay Iyer.
