More details about CPT Jackson on Facebook. The event is not mentioned there. I will be putting it on the VVA 227 Facebook Page.
Here is what his son, Alan Jackson wrote to me:
I have a reason for the invitation to you guys, your Vietnam Vets! There is not a group of men who better understand than you guys. I would very humbled and honored to have you all in attendance. I look forward to meeting you in person in June.
I was six years old when my dad left for Vietnam. He didn’t have to go but volunteered because as he told our mother, he wasn’t going to sit back while all his friends went off to war. He arrived in Vietnam on May 14th or 17th, I believe. June 27th he was shot down only after having his a/c ventilated on three different flights. Because of the nature of his business, we have had a very difficult time trying to locate his remains to bring home and bury next to our mother. It indeed has been a very extremely difficult task to say the least.
