2017 ALEXANDRIA HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE OF LIGHTS
Annual Christmas Event in Alexandria, VA
December 2, 2017, 5:30 p.m. at the Alexandria Marina

At 5:30 p.m. on the day of the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade, Alexandria’s harbor shines as dozens of brightly lit boats cruise the Potomac River at the historic waterfront for the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights. D.C. media personality Tommy McFly of 94.7 Fresh FM will serve as the parade announcer. Enjoy festivities out on the dock from 3 to 7 p.m. and inside the Torpedo Factory Art Center from 2 to 9 p.m.

At 3 p.m., Santa Claus will arrive by fireboat at the Alexandria City Marina and then walk into the Torpedo Factory Art Center to greet children and families. From 4 to 7 p.m. at the marina, the Fresh FM Street Team presents music, games and prizes while new paper goods boutique Penny Post presents a postcard pop-up inviting visitors to write an old fashioned postcard to Santa or a loved one that will be mailed for free. Parade-goers are invited to step into the Torpedo Factory Art Center which will be open until 9 p.m. with its annual Holiday Festival from 2 to 6 p.m. Shop for handmade artful gifts while exploring open studios and meeting artists. Kids can also scout for art with a building-wide scavenger hunt before and after taking photos with Santa. Special performances at the art center include appearances by the Alexandria Choral Society Pro Coro and the Silver 5 Brass Quintet.

The Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights is part of a Potomac River holiday tradition with The District’s Holiday Boat Parade taking place at The Wharf in Washington, D.C. the same evening at 7 p.m.
