The City of Alexandria will celebrate the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility’s 30th Anniversary on Saturday, December 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility, 3210 King St. Admission is free from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and all ages are welcome.
The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities welcomes the community to Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. where patrons will have free use of the facility, including the indoor pool, racquetball courts, fitness room, and soft play room. Additional free festivities include class demonstrations; swim lesson skill assessments; facility tours; and light refreshments. Information will also be available from local aquatics clubs, teams and associations. Admission will be free from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Originally named after the Chinquapin Oak Tree, Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility opened in 1985 as the Chinquapin Adult Recreation Center, housing the City of Alexandria’s first and only indoor pool to date. Centrally located in the city, the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility offers a wide range of activities including group and individual swimming lessons, lap swimming, fitness room, racquetball courts, fitness classes, summer camps, swim teams, soft play room, and birthday parties for youth.
