Tree Distribution
The Annual Fall Free Tree Distribution takes place Sat., Oct. 15 at the County Nursery and Wed., Oct. 19 at Lubber Run Community Center. Arlington County will give one free tree per residential property. See the list below of available trees and then register today for a free tree (first come, first served):
Paw Paw (Asimina triloba)
River Birch (Betula nigra)
Tulip Popular (Liriodendron tulipifera)
Northern Red Oak (Quercus falcata)
Hornbean (Carpinus caroliniana)
American HopHornbean (Ostrya virginiana)
American Holly (Ilex Opaca)
Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana)
Sassafras (Sassafras albidum)
Register for a Tree
Tree Details:
The trees being distributed are generally termed ‘whips’ in the nursery trade and are in two-gallon containers. Tree height varies with species but generally ranges between two to four feet. You should carefully consider the spot you intend to plant your tree.
When/Where to Pickup:
Sat., Oct. 15
8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
County Nursery
Located behind the baseball complex situated at the corner of South George Mason and Four Mile Run. Parking is available within the parking lot in front of the ball field. All participants are asked to walk to the nursery to pick up their tree. A golf cart and driver will be available for anyone needing assistance.

4-7 p.m.
Lubber Run Community Center Parking Lot
TreeSteward members and Arlington County landscape staff will be on hand to help participants. Educational materials, such as tree care and maintaience and planting guidelines will be available.
Parking: Neighbors and groups are being encouraged to make arrangements to pick up trees jointly due to the limited space for parking at the site.
