City of Alexandria Seeks Feedback on 72-Hour Parking Rule

Theo nguồn tin trên trang mạng thành phố Alexandria

For Immediate Release: January 6, 2017

The City of Alexandria invites the public to provide feedback on City Code Section 10-4-8, also known as the “72-hour rule.” This law prohibits parking vehicles within the public right-of-way, including residential streets, for more than 72 hours at a time.

While the rule promotes parking availability for all drivers, it can pose a challenge for residents who travel or don’t drive to work. Since the rule is usually enforced when someone complains, it can also foster conflict between neighbors.

Please visit AlexEngage, the City’s online engagement forum, to provide feedback. Comments received through Friday, January 20, will be shared with the Traffic and Parking Board, and will help inform any possible changes to the rule.

For more information, visit the 72-Hour Ordinance Review webpage, or contact or 703.746.4147.

For media inquiries, contact Andrea Blackford, Senior Communications Officer, at or 703.746.3959.

The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. To request a reasonable accommodation, e-mail or call 703.746.4084, Virginia Relay 711.
